Zoos
All zoological gardens have a large number of pools and basins for a variety of species. Sometimes there are complex water landscapes, offering animals a habitat that comes as close as possible to their natural environment.
Filtering the water from such facilities is a great challenge since many species - seals, penguins and others - consume their food in the water. Excrement often contains only half-digested food, polluting the water considerably. In addition, natural debris gets into the pools and adds to the pollution.
Although the zoos maintain complex filtering systems the water needs to be exchanged weekly - an expensive exercise which is stressful for the animals.
AQUA-SE can offer efficient and economical solutions to improve this situation. We separate the filtration process into three steps:
Mechanical Water Treatment - Drum filters AQUA-SE 01 and S02
Organic nitrogen compounds such as remainders of fodder, excremental particles and leaves are extracted from the water circuit and removed in a fully automatic process. At the same time, the accumulation of organic nitrogen compounds is reduced.
Biological Water Treatment - Moving Bed Medium
Inorganic nitrogen compounds are most effectively decomposed by means of our bio-film filtration system.
Physical Water Treatment - UV-C Lamp Systems
Our UV-C lamps with amalgam tubes prevent that algae can build in the water basins.
